MessageDesk can be used for non-PHI communications, but it is not a platform for sending PHI over SMS. SMS is not end-to-end encrypted, and MessageDesk does not currently sign BAAs. For healthcare-related workflows, keep the text message itself generic and send patients to a secure portal for sensitive information.
